What is Field of Command?

A World War II manoeuvre RTS inspired by World in Conflict and Company of Heroes. Your command career spans platoon-scale fights up to division.

We open with the BEF in France 1940 toward Dunkirk; Norway, North Africa, Normandy and more are planned on the roadmap. Each shipped map unlocks skirmish, multiplayer, and ranked play—see below.

WHAT WE'RE BUILDING

Real History

Campaigns are built from historical orders of battle, terrain reference, and chapter-shaped pressure—starting with the BEF in France 1940, with more theatres on the roadmap. You fight for command points on ground anchored in real geography, with briefings that sell the period without pretending every minute is a documentary. Alternate arcs are labelled honestly as later expansion content; the historical spine is the first-read path. The same simulation powers campaign, skirmish on cleared maps, and community scenarios.

Alternate History

Believable what-ifs change priorities you would recognise from the record—different air commitment, channel risk, and logistics if a gambit succeeded or failed. Invasion-of-Britain style arcs are framed as paid theatre expansions that follow once the core France arc is established, not a bait-and-switch on the opening. Battles keep period kit lists and honest force ratios; the fantasy is the fork, not pulp balance. Signed-in commanders still carry career and Order of Battle across modes.

Rise Through Command

You fight with a curated fighting echelon at battalion and brigade scale—issuing formations matters more than counting every squad. Promotions widen doctrine choices, attachments, and depleted-unit management rather than handing you more troops than an opponent in fair-force Versus. Senior command deepens identity and roster depth, not a raw population win. The loop stays the same: campaign teaches and unlocks history, skirmish rehearses, multiplayer proves the decision-making.
